We’ve seen a pretty nice cool down in the last couple of weeks in Baffin Bay and the Upper Laguna with all the storms and rain, pushing several fish up a little tighter than previously in the hot temps of this summer. We have been used to seeing 87-90° water and are now seeing 83-86° water. We are still catching several solid 18-23” trout in the belly button deep water, but recently we have seen higher numbers of better fish up to 27-28” in the knee to upper thigh deep water. They have been keying to grass lines and deeper points with rocks mixed in with a good mullet presence. Everything we have been throwing has pretty much been 5” or 6” Coastal Brew Darts in Vanilla Bean, Nuke Juice, or the new color Orange Crush. Below waist deep, we’ve been chunking them on 1/8oz Texas Custom Jigheads, and anything deeper going to 1/4oz. All on a pretty quick and erratic retrieve. The trout seem to be doing amazing since the recent change in the limits, and it’s only gonna get better! Redfish have been pretty tough this summer, but they should pick up here in the next month or so.
